Inspired by the city’s altruistic nature, during the month of October Solstice Restaurant is going to donate $5 to the Kidney Cancer Association for every table that purchases all five of that week’s seasonal small plates. With the disease hitting multiple people close to the Solstice family, the restaurant decided to take an active role in joining the fight.
The Kidney Cancer Association, formed in 1990, is a charitable organization that funds, promotes, and collaborates with the National Cancer Institute, American Society for Clinical Oncology, American Urological Association, and other institutions on research projects. They educate families and physicians, and serve as an advocate on behalf of patients at the state and federal levels. Over 50,000 new diagnoses of kidney cancer were made in the last year alone.
